Student Council

 A student council has been established in the college as per the directives of UGC and University of Mumbai. As the name suggests, this conference is founded by students for students and by students. The student council provides opportunities for students to develop their leadership skills by planning and implementing college events and community service projects. The Student Council creates a space where every student can freely express their needs and concerns. This conference provides a platform to students, where students can showcase their talent without fear. The Student Council is responsible for the smooth conduct of various programs organized in the college. On the one hand student council is the voice of the students to the administration while on the other hand a good student council is a representative structure through which the students of the college can participate in the affairs of the college. The management can work in partnership with the staff and students in the interest of the college and students. Participating in a student council has many benefits such as-

  • Students get opportunities to improve their reading and writing skills.
  • Gains experience in public speaking.
  • An opportunity to learn how to make a positive impact on the college and community environment.  Participating in a student council, also known as student government, inculcates leadership qualities, communication skills, problem solving skills, responsibility and more in students.

  • To promote and disseminate an environment conducive to academic and personal development.
  • To develop leadership qualities in students.
  • To assist the administration and faculties in the development of the college.
  • To provide a platform for students to voice their opinions on all matters of common concern to students.
  • To develop teamwork attitude among students.

Constitution

A College Level Student Council has been established in the college under Section 40 (2) (b) of the Maharashtra State University Act, 1994 and as per the guidelines of the Department of Student Welfare, University of Mumbai.

Duties and Responsibilities of Student Council

  • To conduct the College Foundation Day in a proper manner every year.
  • Conducting Induction Program and Fresher’s Day every year.
  • Prevention of ragging in college campuses by counseling students,
  • Assisting college administration as and when required.
  • To suggest to the college administration to improve the service facilities for career and personality development of the students.
  • To assist the administration in the smooth conduct of various student activities in the college campus.
  • To guide economically weaker and needy students to improve their technical, organizational and managerial skills by organizing seminars, workshops and Conferences etc.
  • Encouraging innovative and creative skills of college students.
  • To actively participate in the planning and execution of annual Gathering and prize distribution programmes.
  • To assist the college on the occasion of visits by UGC and university level committees.
  • Attending meetings held at regular intervals and co-operating.

Role of Student Council

This committee will work to build a bridge between both the students and the college. This committee will provide emotional support and create a safe environment for study.

Student council representatives attend the meetings of various committees and express their views on the functioning of the committees and the college. In the NSS Advisory Committee, the CR recommends topics for sessions in Special shrm Sanskar Camps. Female student representatives attend the meetings of the women’s development Cell and discuss the problems related to Female students.

Student council meetings are held regularly. In this meeting, CR discusses their experiences, problems faced by students in academic as well as administrative work.

Students are allowed to share any grievances with the Principal and other members. A complaint box is also provided in which the student can lodge his complaint confidentially. As the Head of the College, the Principal takes appropriate action based on the issues raised.

The Student Council is informed about future activities and programs organized in the college during the meeting. Active participation of the Council in such various programs is expected. The student council thus forms an integral part of the academic and administrative environment of the college.
